Welcome to blog #8
Hi everyone!
Have you seen our short promo video? You can watch it on Youtube, Instagram or TikTok. And please don’t forget to Wishlist Towns of Yore on Steam if you haven't done that yet. Thank you in advance! Enjoy this month’s update!
Prototyping environment
A little peek behind the curtain for our loyal blog readers. The floating islands in Towns of Yore already make a great playing field, but they still need some freshening up. Right now we are looking at improving the edges and rock formations. Here is a little concept shot for you.
Prototype Environment
Big new feature: quests!
A happy new addition for players who love to-do lists. We have added a quest system to Towns of Yore. There are two main types of quests: General and Town Hall quests, as the name implies Town Hall quests can be acquired by building the Town Hall workstation.

General quests
You get these quests automatically. They give you some guidance on progressing in the game.

Town hall quests
  • Small: will take only a few minutes to complete. They are meant to give you a little boost in resources when needed.
  • Medium: slightly bigger quests that focus on expansion, like building a bridge to a new biome or adding roads/decorations.
  • Big: these quests will have more steps to complete. They are supposed to take a little while to finish but the reward you get from it will be worth your time!

You can have a limited amount of questlines active at one time, so you have to choose wisely which one you would rather accept. Plan, prioritize and strategize which quests you need to make your town flourish.

Workstations
Our artist is on a roll! Instead of highlighting just one, here are all three new stations! To see a full 360 shot of them, go to one of our social media accounts. There you can also see the new glow effect that will happen when you build a workstation in game!
Workstation gatherer
Gatherer
Assign an Eylander to gather food and bring it to the cooking station to make sure they don’t go hungry while you are busy.

Postoffice
With all those workstations producing different resources, hauling them from one place to another can be quite the hassle when done alone. This is where the post office comes in! Assign Eylanders as couriers and plan their routes.

Trading post
Sometimes you are looking for a specific product or just want to sell some of your excess produce. The Trading Post is a great way to get resources that are out of reach for now or to gain some extra runestones by selling from your inventory.
